In 1505 – 1506 he needed to find a safe sea route for Prince Henry. On 1504 May 29 th Da Gama got ready to send things to the king. The moors of Calicut didn’t want Da Gama to have all their spices, and so he returned to Portugal with the bare discovery of the land beyond the Cape Of Good Hope and the few spices he had bought there at inflated prices ( but still he made a 3000% profit ! ) Four months later, Da Gama reached Calicut in India on May 20 th, 1498.
